NEW EMAIL! Contact by email here - cindy@maprescue.org

Phone calls accepted on the Rescue line between 9AM and 4PM Eastern time - 410.963.0079

Please limit phone calls to essential conversations. We are so very busy. Thank you.

We are extending our adoption distance to include most of PA, eastern Ohio, NY, NJ. but keep in mind that we do not ship dogs; you must come see the dog in person.

Please note: Most but not all dogs are posted on the website. We ask people to submit an application. And fill it out COMPLETELY. Tell us what you are looking for in a dog, specifically what size dog. Tell us about your house and your yard. If you have children, please tell us how old your children are. We will place puppies under 5 months old (puppy teeth) in homes with younger children. Inquiries welcome.

Like many other rescue groups, MAPR is staggering under the overwhelming number of dogs being surrendered. We are not closed to intake, but we are having to schedule intake. If you need to surrender your dog, please contact us and we will work with you as best as we can. We want to help as many dogs and their people as is possible.

If you have requested an application and have not heard back, CHECK YOUR SPAM FOLDER! The applications are attachments and seem to be going to SPAM. We are going through applications as quickly as possible. We want our dogs to go home

If you have already applied, send an email stating your interest to cindy@maprescue.org

A word about the puppymill dogs: these dogs were NEVER anyone’s beloved pets. They were treated like livestock; they produced puppies for the farms where they lived. And when the farmer was finished with them, they were given away. So these are the dogs that need the most time and patience. But they come around. And they love you. Fenced yards help. Another dog in the house helps.

Things to consider BEFORE you adopt:

1) Make sure your house is ready for a dog. Put away precious breakable objects.

2) Check your fence line for any holes or broken sections from which a dog could escape. (Hopefully you have a fenced yard!)

3) Collect the necessities - baby gates, crates, food dishes, dog bed

4) No adult dog can be placed in a home with children under the age of 6.

Scheduled intakes - coming early May. Applications needed. Foster or foster to adopt.

11 year old neutered male SP. Fonzie. Healthy. Just needs someone to love him.

A pair of male SP - Leo, 9 years old and Walther 5 years old. Healthy. Neutered.

2 year old phantom-marked neutered male SP.

Inquiries to cindy@maprescue.org

  • Two of now three female "moyen" sized Poodles

Sort of a before and after photo. This picture is of 2 of the 3 moyen girls. One lucky little darling was adopted! They are almost identical. We now have them named and have different color collars on them. If you are interested in adopting or possibly fostering, please request an application from cindy@maprescue.org

  • One of three girls

3 Standard Poodles from the same place. Will need vetting, time, patience and love. Sweet girls. Foster to adopt is encouraged. Inquiries to cindy@maprescue.org

If you have sent in an application and have not heard back, send an email stating the dog that you are interested in, or the size of a dog you are interested in. The next month or so are VERY hectic times.

We have the national specialty show and Parade of Rescued Poodles in MO in April. Thank you.

  • Butch (formerly Seamus) - Labradoodle

Butch is a 2 year old labradoodle. He is neutered, current on all vaccines and microchipped. He loves people and other dogs. He does shed, but he sheds less when his coat is kept short as in the photo. Butch is currently in a behavioral training program. We are very optimistic about his progress.

  • Caramel/Mollie - Standard Poodle

Caramel has come back to us. We are all very sad. She just was not a good fit into the wonderful home where she went. But we are confident that a home for this girl exists.

She will likely do best in a home with a fully fenced yard and the presence of another dog.

    Inquiries to cindy@maprescue.org

  • Roger - Standard Poodle

Never anyone’s beloved pet, 7 year old Roger came to us smelling of wood shavings from the barn where he was kept. He was used and discarded but things are improving for him now. He is sweet, a bit wary, but coming around, responding to quiet handling, going for walks outdoors, taking it all in. He is current on vaccines. He will need to be neutered. Inquiries welcome. cindy@maprescue.org

  • Marcello - Standard Poodle

Marcello is a 3 year old SP. He was abandoned in an apartment and found by the landlord after the tenants fled the country. Paperwork indicates that Marcello is 3 years old. He is current on all vaccinations. He is very friendly, walks nicely on lead, goes potty on lead. He would do best in a home with a fenced yard and probably as an only dog or with a female. He has not yet been neutered. Adoption fee $750 with a $250 refund if the adopted neuters the dog. Inquiries to cindy@maprescue.org

  • Harper and Bella

Harper (Standard Poodle) and Bella (goldendoodle) are best friends, and so we would prefer to adopt them as a pair. Sweeter and more friendly girls you could not hope to meet. They love everyone! They are current on all vaccines but need to be spayed. Adoption fee for the pair is $1200 with a $400 refund after spay ($200/dog). The girls are with us in Baltimore now and ready for meet and greets. Inquiries to cindy@maprescue.org

  • Boomer - Cockapoo?

Boomer is a 5 year old Poodle mixed-breed dog, possibly a cockapoo. He is current on all vaccines, but needs to be neutered. He previously lived with children, other dogs and cats. (Shawn is strong and Boomer has blossomed with us; he weighs more than 20 pounds!) Adoption fee $550 with a $150 refund after neutering. Inquiries to cindy@maprescue.org

  • Missy Bella

    ADOPTED!

MAPR will miss this lovely girl. We wish her and her new family all the best!

  • Blue

We love this guy so much. He has been with us for a while. We just can’t seem to find the right fit for him. Requirements for adopters include VERY active household. This dog would be a GREAT candidate for the AKC event, FASTCat. Fenced yard is a must. NO CHICKENS, cats or small dogs in the household. Blue is neutered, current on all vaccines. HW negative and microchipped. Adoption fee $750. Inquiries to cindy@maprescue.org

  • Charlie and Frankie

More information to follow. These two do not need to be adopted as a pair, Frankie is a goldendoodle. Charlie is the mini.

  • Apollo

It is with a heavy heart that we report that our dear sweet boy, Apollo, lost his struggle with kidney failure. Apollo was a Standard Poodle - Great Pyranees cross that had been purchased for a child as a birthday gift. He was diagnosed as having been born with underdeveloped kidneys before his first birthday. The family decided to give Apollo up to Rescue because they did not want to see him die. We took very good care of Apollo. He lacked for nothing. And at the end of his life, he found a wonderful person to see him over the Bridge. A truly wonderful woman took him and gave him really good time before his huge heart gave out. Run free and well, sweet boy. Until we meet again.

  • Maybelle, sleeping at home

Maybelle found her angel. She is doing well at this time. We are so happy for her. Such a sweet precious little dog that was dealt a bad hand. But for now, she is loved and warm and happy.

  • Bear

Rest well dear boy. Until we meet again.

Above is a partial list of available dogs. If you are interested in any particular dog, please mention the dog’s name in your inquiry and we will send you an application.

Please note: we CANNOT and WILL NOT adopt adult dogs into a home with children under the age of 6. We are FIRM on this point.
