NEW EMAIL! Contact by email here - cindy@maprescue.org

Phone calls accepted on the Rescue line between 9AM and 4PM Eastern time - 410.963.0079

Please limit phone calls to essential conversations. We are so very busy. Thank you.

We are extending our adoption distance to include most of PA, eastern Ohio, NY, NJ. but keep in mind that we do not ship dogs; you must come see the dog in person.

Please note: Most but not all dogs are posted on the website. We ask people to submit an application. And fill it out COMPLETELY. Tell us what you are looking for in a dog, specifically what size dog. Tell us about your house and your yard. If you have children, please tell us how old your children are. We will place puppies under 5 months old (puppy teeth) in homes with younger children. Inquiries welcome.

Like many other rescue groups, MAPR is staggering under the overwhelming number of dogs being surrendered. We are not closed to intake, but we are having to schedule intake. If you need to surrender your dog, please contact us and we will work with you as best as we can. We want to help as many dogs and their people as is possible.

If you have requested an application and have not heard back, CHECK YOUR SPAM FOLDER! The applications are attachments and seem to be going to SPAM. We are going through applications as quickly as possible. We want our dogs to go home

If you have already applied, send an email stating your interest to cindy@maprescue.org

A word about the puppymill/dog farm dogs: these dogs were NEVER anyone’s beloved pets. They were treated like livestock; they produced puppies for the farms where they lived. And when the farmer was finished with them, they were given away. So these are the dogs that need the most time and patience. But they come around. And they love you. Fenced yards help. Another dog in the house helps.

Things to consider BEFORE you adopt:

1) Make sure your house is ready for a dog. Put away precious breakable objects.

2) Check your fence line for any holes or broken sections from which a dog could escape. (Hopefully you have a fenced yard!)

3) Collect the necessities - baby gates, crates, food dishes, dog bed

4) No adult dog can be placed in a home with children under the age of 6.

Kandy is one of the Standard Poodle girls surrendered from an Amish dog farm. She is not used to having her photo taken, but she is very sweet and very pretty. ADoption fee $650 with a $150 refund after spay. Inquiries to cindy@maprescue.org

  • Reese - Standard Poodle

Resse is from the same place as Kandy. Like Kandy, she will need vetting, time, patience and love. These are very sweet girls. Inquiries to cindy@maprescue.org

  • Charlie - Toy Poodle

Charlie is a 12 year old Toy Poodle whose owner died. The family did not want him and dropped him at a shelter. He will be coming to us. He will be current on all vaccines. We will have him evaluated as soon as we can get him into our veterinarian. We are looking for an adopter or long term foster for this sweet little guy.

    Inquiries to cindy@maprescue.org

  • Honey - Toy Poodle

Honey is under a year old. She may have a wobbly knee (luxating patella) but that does not seem to bother her. She is current on all vaccines. She will need to be neutered several months past his first birthday.

  • Chloe and Scampy

    ADOPTED!

  • Peachy

Peachy has been shifted around a bit. She found herself in one shelter, was adopted from there but then was turned into another shelter, reportedly as a "stray." All that stops now!

This super sweet, friendly, happy little doodle girl has been spayed and is current on all vaccines. Her paperwork says she is about a year old. She is working on crate training and doing very well!

Adoption fee $500 Inquiries to cindy@maprescue.org

  • Luna

    ADOPTED!

  • Copper

If you think Copper resembles Kandy and Resse, you would be correct; she comes from the same place.

Copper is a "moyen," or small Standard Poodle. We have observed a "heat" cycle for her so she has finished growing. She is very sweet and very shy. Like Kandy and Reese, she will require a fenced yard. The presence of another stable dog would be a benefit for Copper. Like other dog farm dogs, she will require time, patience and love. She has vaccines but as yet has not been spayed.

Adoption fee $750 with a $250 refund after the dog has been spayed.

    ADOPTED!

  • Apollo

It is with a heavy heart that we report that our dear sweet boy, Apollo, lost his struggle with kidney failure. Apollo was a Standard Poodle - Great Pyranees cross that had been purchased for a child as a birthday gift. He was diagnosed as having been born with underdeveloped kidneys before his first birthday. The family decided to give Apollo up to Rescue because they did not want to see him die. We took very good care of Apollo. He lacked for nothing. And at the end of his life, he found a wonderful person to see him over the Bridge. A truly wonderful woman took him and gave him really good time before his huge heart gave out. Run free and well, sweet boy. Until we meet again.

  • Maybelle, sleeping at home

Maybelle found her angel. She is doing well at this time. We are so happy for her. Such a sweet precious little dog that was dealt a bad hand. But for now, she is loved and warm and happy.

  • Bear

Rest well dear boy. Until we meet again.

  • Baxter

Baxter found his angel. We wish him well.

  • Barry

We took Barry from one of the local shelters, but unbeknownst to us or the shelter, Barry was a very sick little dog. We rushed him to the vet and discovered, to our horror, that Barry was dying. We quietly and gently helped him across the Bridge. Run free and well now little man.

Above is a partial list of available dogs. If you are interested in any particular dog, please mention the dog’s name in your inquiry and we will send you an application.

Please note: we CANNOT and WILL NOT adopt adult dogs into a home with children under the age of 6. We are FIRM on this point.
